June 3-5th Report

The fish are steadily moving north and getting ready to settle into their summer homes!

We have had some strange water conditions this week, hence why this report is coming out a bit early, hopefully you can stay on top of the fish!!

Water Temp north of Chebeague Island 6-3-19: 56 deg with low clarity, air temp 55deg out going tide

Water temp at Mackworth Island 6-5-19: 53 deg and low clarity, air temp 49deg out going tide

The fish were a little more picky in Sunday then they were on Saturday, but that didn't stop of from boating a few small schoolies. Top water action was good with a few fish taken from the surface. Move forward 3 days and the water temp dropped 3 degrees in 2 days, cold nights are not much help right now. The fish were settled up in some real shallow water at low tide on 6-5-19 chasing brit herring. In 2 hours we were able to land a number of fish all of which were covered in sea lice and fat. Reports of good sized schools of mackerel are lingering through out the community, so be on the look out, the bigger fish will be right behind them.

Flies of choice seem to be white and bright - fish those smaller decievers on the edges of mud flats to stay entertained for hours. Big bright weighted flies on the rocks seem to be producing some quality fish as well.

Be ready for some changes soon, warmer weather is on its way at the end of the week!

Good luck and tight lines folks!!!
