The season is here!
After a long winter hibernation, the saltwater season has begun and we could not be more excited!
On May 4th 2019 I Joined Capt. Jason Eaton with A Whiptail Adventures for an off shore trip to Jefferys ledge for some haddock fishing.
We started the trip by visiting a few of the local ledges, but with only a few fish showing on the sonar and one fish boated we moved south to Jefferys and here is what we found.
Water Temp: 51.4F
Sea's: 2-3's laying down to 1 foot or less with plenty of space between them.
Bait: Cut clam and cod rigs fished around 200ft
We ended up boating a large number of quality Haddock with the biggest being just shy of 26 inches, a few healthy Pollock over 22 inches and one cod that was well over 35 inches which was released immediately.
For those looking for some ground fish I would recommend finding the edges of drop offs around 200 feet to 250 feet of water, cut clams and butterfly jigs will work well.
Good luck and tight lines!
